Summary:
To provide a staff position with the responsibility of driving the individual's transportation vehicles to transport clients to and from employment at the Job Campus.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate transportation vehicles.
Supervisor individuals while in an agency vehicle and to address behavioral problems when they develop.
Establish and maintain a specific pick-up route and time schedule.
Maintain accurate documentation of pick-up times and drop off times.
Keep an accurate daily roll of individuals picked up and those that are absent.
Maintain the vehicle through proper care and reporting to the Supervisor any repairs that need to be made.
Report to the Supervisor if any individual does not follow vehicle rules of conduct while riding in an agency vehicle.
Follow all safe driving practices and be aware of and follow all state laws in respect to driving.
Be aware of emergency procedures and informed of first aid procedures.
Notify participants by telephone when there is a change in the pick-up schedule due to inclement weather or emergency situations.
Inform the Supervisor of any accidents occurring while providing transportation to individuals.
Maintain confidentiality as it pertains to individuals served.
Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested for successful completion of the mission of GIV.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
Ability to convert standard time to military time.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Successful completion of any training courses as mandated by the Virginia Department of Transportation and the safety procedures of GIV.
Ability to relate to the professional staff at the Goodwill Jobs Campuses.
Ability to relate to participants in a professional manner.
Basic knowledge of mechanics of transportation vehicle.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid state of Virginia driver's license and proof of insurance required to drive personal car on company business.
Additionally, 3
point DMV record required to drive company vehicle.
Must be able to successfully complete the following in-house training within the first 15 days of employment:
Orientation Employee Compliance Update Human Rights orientation and practices Applicable Personnel Policies Emergency Preparedness Procedures Bloodborne Pathogen Training Pandemic Flu Training EEO and Harassment Must be able to successfully complete the following in-house training upon hire and within a reasonable time period:
CPR First Aid Human Rights Training Mandated Reporting Documentation of physical/health status as required by the State of Virginia for issuance of operator license.
