Summary:
This position is at the Franklin County Family YMCA at the welcome desk.
We strive to provide outstanding service to all members, guests, and program participants.
This position responds to member and guest needs, promotes membership and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby/gym area.
Essential Functions:
Provides outstanding service to members, guests, and program participants at the Y on the phone and in person with a warm welcoming and helping hand when needed.
Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the Y.
Conducts tours of the facility for new and/or potential members while explaining our mission, classes, and any other amenities the YMCA offers.
Sells memberships and registers program participants.
Records sales and registrations according to association procedures.
Stays current on program and membership information to communicate effectively with members, guests, and program participants.
Applies YMCA policies when dealing with member services.
Maintains facility control and security by scanning member key tags, maintaining sign-in sheets and issuing equipment and/or keys.
Maintains oversight of gym use to insure the safety of our members and equipment.
Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
Carries out risk management and emergency procedures in accordance with association guidelines, completes and files necessary paperwork.
Participates as a team member during special promotions and annual campaigns.
Attends training sessions and staff meetings as required.
Carries out assignments from the Membership Director which can include light housekeeping and administrative task.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Previous experience in customer service, sales or related experience.

Must be First Aid and CPR Certified or willing to obtain within 90 days.
Must be able to multi task.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee will work primary indoors.
This is a fast paced, active environment that requires constant interaction and attention to the needs of the members, guest, and program participants.
Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
